“Cheers” comes to West Ashley with a down-home country flair at SouthSide 17 Bar and Grill.  You may not see Norm but you will see many West Ashley natives at this find.  Come often enough and you will be one of the gang where everyone knows your name and what you drink.  You can tell that this place is great because people of all ages and walks of life are here.  And the food is really good. The fun part is sitting at the restaurant bar that over looks the kitchen staff as they prepare some of the most unique dishes in all of Charleston. Yes, I am recommending everyone see a tree, but don’t worry, it’s free. Saying the Angel Oak is just a tree is like saying the Grand Canyon is just a hole in the ground. The Angel Oak is so mammoth, no picture can show what a marvel of beauty it is. The 500 year-old tree is located on 3688 Angel Oak Rd, Johns Island, SC 29455.

Charleston Sailing Meetup is a great way to explore the low country by sea.  For a nominal fee, you can see sunset vistas almost any day of the week.

Jay Kenney runs the group and offers numerous sailing options for the novice to experienced sailor.  He provides information about all sorts of sailing classes, many of which are free. His sailing adventures are my number one recreation outlet in Charleston.  This should not be missed.
