For a long time, I enjoyed a mirror-mind disconnect. Being severely myopic, this illusion was bolstered by seeing myself in the mirror through a “Murder She Wrote” hazy filter. I never liked being photographed, so many of my pictures are of a younger me, but with enhanced mobile phone photo technology, I get to see myself way too often. If you are like me, you have had it with self-serving politics as usual. But I was happy to discover that there are Angels Among Us. I made this discovery with my son as we were fleeing impending hurricane Florence, predicted to hit Charleston, SC at a level 4. Trader Joe’s – Organic and Kosher Foods
If you came to Charleston from the northeast, you may be in search of delicacies hard to find down here. For me, it was kosher chicken. With Passover approaching, I need kosher chicken to make my famous matzah-ball soup. After local supermarkets in West Ashley had none. So I ventured over to Mt. Pleasant to Trader Joe’s. It appears that I am not alone. Area synagogues order their kosher chickens from Trader Joe’s too! SouthSide 17 Bar & Grill
“Cheers” comes to West Ashley with a down-home country flair at SouthSide 17 Bar and Grill. You may not see Norm but you will see many West Ashley natives at this find. Come often enough and you will be one of the gang where everyone knows your name and what you drink. You can tell that this place is great because people of all ages and walks of life are here.
